The 4th generation of iPads is here, and Apple Inc says that this model beats all of its predecessors in terms of endurance, performance, and reliability. So let’s check out what’s actually in the bag for us here.
The Hardware
The new iPad 4 model gives the hereditary overall look and feel; the dimensions and weight of the fourth-gen iPad is the same as the iPad 3. Even the pricing is same. However, there is a Lightning connector on the bottom of the device, which makes this one look slightly different from its predecessor models. On the inside though, there is the new superfast A6X processor that makes this device a lot more advanced.
The Wi-Fi model of iPad 4 has a 9.5 x 7.3 inches glass-covered front, 9.5 mm thickness, and weighs 1.44 pounds. The cellular model, however, is 0.6mm thicker and weighs 1.46 pounds – the front dimensions remain the same. The power button, which is slimmer now and made of black plastic, stays at the top of the device, where the volume keys and the rotation lock button go to the right side. At the bottom, there is the new interconnect dock port, much slender and easier to connect, which allows faster, smoother transfer of files.
iPad 4 comes with somewhat the same Retina display you see in the third variant of iPads, but offers a more vibrant 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. The brightness, contrast, and color reproduction is excellent, and the visibility does not even change when outdoors. Though the icons and buttons are technically the same as what you get in the iPad 2, the amazing clarity of iPad 4 makes them more lively.
You get a 5 megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.2 megapixel camera up front, allowing you to shoot in 720p or FaceTime in HD. This is a great improvement in the iPads line, since all previous models had VGA cameras at the front. However, there is no Panorama or HDR mode available in the iPad yet.
Verdict
With an advanced processor that enables better gaming and video performance, a faster charging port to save time, and the same pricing as of its predecessor, we can say that the new iPad is the best you can get on the market. Do we need to say anything more?
