Samsung is one of the leading producers of smartphones and tablets in global market. Samsung’s latest device, Galaxy Tab 4, that comes in both 7-inch and 8-inch models, are compared with its predecessors to get a better idea of its specs.
Samsung 7-inch Series
Samsung released its new Tab 4 7-inch model as a successor to its previous Galaxy Tab 3 model. however Samsung has increased the resolution by a great margin in the latest device, from 1024 x 600 pixels to 1280 x 800 pixels.
Tab 4 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad Core processor, just the same as in Tab 3; but the RAM has been upgraded to 1 GB. The internal storage also got a huge upgrade from 8 GB to 16 GB. However, expandable memory is kept the same at 32GB.
The camera is same in both Tab 4 and Tab 3 devices, which is 3 MP, but Tab 4 has flash that is absent in its predecessor. The front camera remains the same for both models with a 1.3 MP camera.
Significant update is available in the case of operating system, and Tab 4 has its stock ROM running on Android 4.4 KitKat platform. Connectivity doesn’t have any major updates compared to Tab 3.
Tab 4 is comparatively light, weighing 276 g, when compared to Tab 3 that weighed 304 g. in addition to that, the dimensions of Tab 4 had been made short, narrow, and thinner.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8-inch has a 1.5 GB RAM with an internal storage of 16 GB and storage support of up to 64 GB. However, Tab 4 has the same camera (3 MP) as that in Tab 3 model. Additionally, both the devices feature WXGA 1280 x 800 pixel TFT screen. Yet again, the Tab 4 model is slightly larger and heavier when compared to its predecessor model.
